Personal Journey
Kaya wanju nguny kwell Chelsea
Hello, welcome, my name is Chelsea
I am a Wagyl Kaip Noongar woman, born in Katanning in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by love, family and Country, raised on the land with a deep connection to nature, culture and community. Family has always been at the centre of who I am, and those strong connections continue to shape both my life and my art today. Leaving Country to pursue my studies was a significant step in my journey. I moved to Perth to become a nurse and was later blessed with opportunities to travel through my work, caring for communities from the south of Western Australia to Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. These experiences deepened my appreciation for people, storytelling, culture and connection. I eventually returned to Perth to marry the love of my life. Together we are raising our two beautiful daughters, who inspire me every day. Some of my most cherished moments are spent playing, exploring and painting alongside them.

Today, I continue my work in Paediatric Aboriginal Health, I am deeply passionate about supporting Aboriginal children and families in meaningful ways. Art has always quietly existed in my life, I remember dot painting with my Nanna as a child, learning through connection and time spent together. After experiencing personal hardships in recent years, I found my way back to painting, and it quickly became a source of healing, joy and grounding. What began as painting stories for my family and close friends slowly grew into Karlup Creations, a space where I can share my culture, connection and storytelling of all people through art.

Each piece I create carries meaning, reflecting journeys, relationships, memories and the deep ties we hold to family, connecting and belonging. No matter who you are, or where you are from, you have a story worth sharing.
