Banyandah

‘Home on the water’

This tells the story of your family, shaped by connection, resilience, and a deep sense of belonging.

At its centre sits the main meeting circle, representing your family, you, Brenden, Ivy and Hudson. The layered rings reflect strength, unity, and connection. It is a reminder that together, you are whole. The subtle dog prints are moving toward you, honouring your beloved dog, an important piece of your family.

As your family is situated alongside the water, the top represents the lake, making Banyandah a fitting name. Flowing patterns and soft movement reflect the calm and peace this place brings. The two swans gliding across the water symbolise partnership, loyalty, enduring and endless love. This is a reflection of your marriage and the journey you’re on together.

Throughout, there are elements of nature and life woven in, symbolising your connection to country. At the bottom represents Northam, your place of origin, memory, and deep ancestral connection. It holds both love and complexity and a foundation that shaped who you are.

In the lower corner, a single figure represents your father. Disconnected from land and people, this reflects the impact of the Stolen Generations, separation, loss, and isolation. From this space, journey lines begin, showing his path over time, a movement toward healing, reconnection, and belonging.

These lines lead toward the family that he has created with you and you Mum. Symbolising the place where he found connection again. This journey is one of strength and quiet resilience, carried forward into the next generations. The boomerangs above are symbolic of this strength of your family.

The secondary meeting places represent the presence of extended family, especially Nanna and Pop, whose love and support have been central in raising the children and strengthening the family unit.

Flowing pathways throughout depict you and your family’s journey. These journey lines ebb and flow, highlighting your challenges faced.  Along these journey lines are two birthing caves, represents the relationship between you and your children. It is a sacred space of creation and new life. The tree growing from within the cave is a powerful symbol of life, strength, and growth, reflecting not only their arrival into the world but the deep journey that led them being here.

This is a story of growing connection, discovering home in each other, in family, and in Banyandah.
