‘The balance of Journey and Country’

Sheridan, this piece follows the different parts of your life and the places and people that have shaped the path you’ve taken.

At the heart is the large meeting place in the centre. That circle represents where life has settled for you now, home with your family and all the animals that make up your everyday world. The open country around it reflects life on the farm, where things slow down a little and the rhythm of the land brings that sense of calm and grounding.

Running across the painting are the journey lines that connect everything together. Those paths represent the many directions your life has taken, linking the places and experiences that have shaped who you are today.

One of the meeting places along those paths is Lake Grace, where your story begins. The smaller circles around it represent your Mum, Dad and your two older brothers. The connection between those circles reflects how close that family bond has always been.

Further along the journey are the circles that represent the friendships in your life. The people who stand beside you and lift you up every day. These meeting places represent community and shared connection, and those friendships have clearly become an important part of your circle.

Some of the journey lines branch away from home, showing the paths that took you further afield. One stretching across the world to the mountains of Canada, where friendships and memories still hold a piece of your heart, and another travelling north to Kununurra, where the warmer colours reflect the powerful country and the time you spent there, exhausting yet enriching, and something that clearly left a lasting mark on you.

Across the land you’ll see native flowers, bush plants and animals woven through the painting, reflecting your love of nature. From wandering the bush in search of wildflowers and orchids to the many animals that are part of your world, both at home and out on the land.

A few wheat heads represent your connection to the land through farming, reflecting life on the farm and the rhythm of the seasons. They symbolise growth and grounding, and the way your journey has brought you back to working closely with the land.

Above it all sit the sun and the moon. The sun represents warmth, energy and that adventurous spirit that’s taken you to new places. The moon represents the quieter moments, reflection, calm and those peaceful times spent watching the sky change at the end of the day.

Lastly, the dotted patterns flowing through the painting bring everything together. They represent the energy of the land and the way all parts of your story connect. Family, friendships, animals, travel, memories and country.

Your story moves between adventure and grounding. You’ve travelled far and experienced a lot of the world, but the paths always circle back to the people and the land that make you feel most at home.
